Ambassador's Silver Destiny
1978 - 2008
Grey Purebred Arabian
Our foundation mare
What can you say about a mare that founded a purebred arabian breeding programme? We'll start at the beginning - Destiny was born and bred in the United Kingdom, an upstanding chestnut filly who would later turn grey. She was sired by Magnifico, the 1974 British Reserve National Champion Stallion and out of the Blue Mint daughter Silver Irexa.
Her pedigree is classic crabbet and english lines and Destiny is one of the rare group of horses who can lay claim to the title GSB: Her pedigree traces entirely to horses registered in the General Stud Book of Britain. She is also over 90% Crabbet and 100% CMK in pedigree.

Destiny was imported to Australia in 1980 and came to us in 1988 as a mature mare. Tall, powerful and very upstanding. Destiny was a classic. Her first foal for us was born in 1990 and named Eskdale Silver Kimberley - a beautiul grey filly by Zarhedahn.

For many years during the extreme Queensland drought Destiny was not bred; her final breeding was to be to the imported Russian stallion Barabas, but a foal never eventuated. In a last ditch effort, Destiny was covered by her grandson Eskdale Asjmir and in due time a stunning chestnut colt was born. The colt was named Eskdale Dasjai and he was remarkable, with a most unusual facial marking, very typey and the kindest nature. At age 20, after producing 6 foals for Eskdale and a lifetime total of 12 Destiny was officially retired from breeding.

Destiny loved her retirement and spent many happy years with the herd, occasionally lending herself to be a babysitter to foals and weanlings. As she aged she was bought closer to the stables and took advantage of extra feeding and rugs in the winter.
In her old age she was an excellent companion for younger horses, giving them a sense of security and good manners all at the same time.
After surviving equine influenza in 2007, Destiny gave it up to old age and was sadly laid to rest in February 2008. She is survived by many of her foals and countless get and grand-get.
