Friesians

In the year 2000 we had a most unusual show training enquiry. Could we show a Friesian horse? Why not? Could it be that much different from conditioning,
training and showing an Arabian horse? We would not be showing at a regular show but at a Keuring, or studbook inspection. In 2000, For the first time since the Friesian horse first came to Australia in 1977, two qualified officials from the KFPS (Dutch Studbook) inspected Australian bred Friesians against the world standards. We would be presenting Renske fan e Olde Hoek, a mare imported from Holland by Carl Mitchell of Cacharel Friesians.
Rense fan e Olde Hoek at the 2000 Keuring
Renske proved to be a fast learner, intelligent as well as beautiful. She was presented at the 2000 KFPS Keuring in Tamworth and awarded the prestigious Ster status in recognition of her excellence. Renske was in foal at the time with Django of Cacharel, who has gone on to create history as the first Australian bred stallion to be award Ster status. Renske was a magnificent example of the modern Friesian horse and we kept in touch to follow her progress in life. Tragically she passed away shortly after the birth of her second foal. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In 2006 we returned to the Friesian scene for another Keuring, this time in Queensland. Again showing for Cacharel, this time with the very regal imported mare Ynskje B and her outstanding yearling filly Nikkitta of Cacharel. Ynskje was presented by Wendy and following inspection was awarded the prestigious Ster status in a repeat of the 2000 Keuring.
Nikkitta was presented by Tracey and was a standout on the day. She too achieved an Australian first being awarded 1st Premie Main Studbook Foalbook Filly, effectively the highest accolade she could receive at her age. At the end of the day Nikkitta was also awarded Queensland Champion. Quite the achievement for her first outing.
Keurings only occur every three years in Australia. For more information visit
